ABOUT STEVE DYE

Steve lives in Salem, VA. with his wife Jan and a cat that looks like a basketball. Steve began doing photography in the mid 1970’s while living in the Syracuse, NY area. Since moving to Virginia in the 1978, he has had a number of shows and won a number of photo contests with his landscapes. He has also had his work displayed and sold worldwide. While Steve loves photographing landscapes and wildlife he has also done weddings, and corporate events for Allstate and Encompass Insurance companies. He has also photographed all types of sporting events and music concerts for papers. In 2003 Steve spent the summer following the baseball teams of the Carolina Minor League for a coffee table book, published in 2004. He is the only photographer to have been granted the right to do so. Steve has also done photographs for an exercise book and is presently working on a book of smaller, mostly overlooked, Civil War battles. The book is a narrative of those battles using photos he took of the reenactments to illustrate them.

GICLEE PRINTS

Gicleé (pronounced "zhee-clay") or "that which is sprayed or squirted" is a print process using 8-12 colors sprayed onto the print medium to produce museum quality prints. Gicleé prints may be produced on various textures and finishes such as matte photo paper, watercolor paper, cotton canvas, or artist textured vinyl. While slightly more expensive than regular inkjet prints, their quality is unsurpassed which is why artists use the process for their show pieces. Producing a Gicleé print begins with a high-resolution digital scan. Once the scan is made prints can be produced in almost any size. Because of the number of archival inks used the print will have more accurate color and it will last a very long time. Many of the items in the Fine Art gallery are printed using the Gicleé method of printing.
